GRAU index 6B26 Kevlar helmet under the designation 6B26. This helmet saw combat and has a battle scar on the occupant’s ear.
It is a fairly rare example of the initial development of aramid material helmets by the Scientific Research Institute of Steel. It was developed in 2005 and began to be supplied to the Russian army in 2006, along with two other modifications: 6B27 and 6B28. There is not much information about this helmet in open sources. Mostly, one version of this helmet – 6B27 – is mentioned. Collectors say that it looks exactly like a helmet from Great Britain in 1996, which the Russians likely used in creating this helmet. As always, Russia can only steal ideas in everything.
Such helmets could be seen on Russian soldiers during the occupation of Crimea in 2014. It is said that the occupiers’ special operations units like to wear them because of their lightness (0.95 kg) and style. Also, the aramid thread of its first mass production is said to be better than other analogs of Kevlar helmets. It is called a “assault” helmet. Mostly, “experienced veterans” of various Russian military campaigns wear them to emphasize their experience with an old piece of metal that has saved their lives in many battles. But in Ukraine, the soldier who owned it didn’t have the same luck, and it ended up in our collection.
Such helmets are very rare specimens on the battlefield, you could say they are “limited edition.” We have several such specimens in our collection, and finding them is very difficult. An art object made from such a helmet will be exclusive in your collection.
