YOKE
Description:

A true historical artifact and war trophy, which is almost impossible to find in such a condition (personally, I have never seen a similar trophy in such a state, and I have seen plenty of trophies).

This artifact also has an interesting story. It is the control stick from a Su-24M frontline bomber, which was shot down by our Warriors near Bakhmut on December 2, 2022. We received several photos from the area where this control stick was found among a large number of aircraft debris. One of the photos showed parts of the fuselage with the numbers “48”. A very interesting story is associated with these numbers.

Wagner mercenaries, piloting the Su-24M RF-93798 with the tail number 48 “Blue”, Alexander Antonov and Vladimir Nikishin, after being hit by a missile near Bakhmut on December 2, 2022, directed their plane into a column of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. The occupiers invented a story of repeating Gastello’s feat (which was also a historical myth), awarded the mercenaries as heroes, organized some tennis tournament in honor of these individuals, and set up a desk in a school so that children would understand what happens in the event of death in the interests of the empire. There are plenty of interesting materials about the Su-24M RF-93798 online.

But the real story is more trivial. After the plane was hit, it “successfully” landed in a forest near Bakhmut, the two mercenaries lost their lives, and our collection acquired a unique item, which in English is symbolically called YOKE, and can mean either “aircraft control stick” or “yoke”. Whatever one prefers.

The exhibit is mounted on a large copper base with a sculpture of a dead forest, in the textures of which the belongings and bodies of the occupiers remain forever. There are many such forests in Ukraine.
