In our collection of trophies, we have a 6B45 body armor. It appeared in the Russian army in 2015 as part of the Ratnik infantry combat system. This system was first presented in 2011 and gained attention during the annexation of Crimea by the Russian military. In 2015, it began to officially enter the Russian army.
Ratnik is a source of pride for the occupiers. They consider this system to be the best in the world, as dozens of military complex enterprises in Russia contributed to its development and supposedly took into account all aspects of modern warfare.
The body armor belongs to the 5A protection class and is capable of withstanding impacts from AK (Kalashnikov Assault Rifle) bullets with a 7.62 mm armor-piercing incendiary bullet.
Body armor from the Ratnik system is equipped with ceramic-composite armor panels with a layer of ceramic tiles and a composite backing. Ceramic is characterized by very high hardness relative to its weight. The ceramic outer layer effectively destroys the bullet, and the reinforced composite backing holds its fragments and ceramic shards. In the standard Ratnik body armor kit, the weight is slightly over 7 kg, significantly less than its predecessor. There is also a assault configuration of the body armor, in which the protection level is increased to the maximum (sixth) class, providing bulletproof protection for the side zones and groin area. In this case, the weight of the body armor reaches 15 kg.
The weight of the body armor in the base configuration is 8 kg.
This body armor was manufactured in July 2022 when the Russian occupiers had been trying to capture Ukraine for four months. The body armor is in good condition, washed and already without the smells of “Russian world”. It was smuggled into Ukraine in violation of the rules and confiscated by brave soldiers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Now it is a part of the great history of the Ukrainian people’s battle for freedom and independence in 2022-2023.
